I am not a healthcare professional, or a police officer. I do not give as selflessly to the community as any of them. I am, however, a law abiding Vancouverite, Canadian, citizen of the world and die-hard Vancouver Canucks fan.
I would appreciate the opportunity to give my thanks to all of those on the front line the other night. You were all faced with a job tougher than most of us will ever endure in our varied careers. Your effort and dedication to our beautiful city is appreciated by far more than will ever actually have to chance speak to you, and personally express their gratitude.
I was brought to tears at the disgust with the way “our city” handled a loss in the hockey game. I emailed my father who is travelling abroad, and expressed my embarrassment. However, my sorrow quickly became happiness in seeing the true citizens of this great city come together to restore it. I was relieved, but not surprised that the city came together to reclaim Vancouver.
Once again, thanks to those who gave their time on the night of, and the day following June 15th.
Stay proud, Vancouver. This place is awesome.
